Peer Review Policy

Double Blind Peer-Review Process

International Online Journal of Educational Sciences (IOJES) is a double blind peer-reviewed international educational journal. It is published online in  March, May, July, September and November. Manuscripts can only be submitted in English. All manuscripts submitted for publication will undergo rigorous peer review, based on an initial editor screening (format of the manuscript, originality of the study, language used) and then a blind review process by at least two anonymous reviewers.

The reviewers are usually chosen from either the Editorial Board, or the Reviewers Panel. Typically, the editor will seek reviewers’ feedback before considering the submission for publication. In that case, the editor will wait until he/she receives all reviewer comments regarding the submission. The editor will then send the decision to the author via manuscript tracking system of IOJES journal.

The editor appoints at least two peer reviewers, who are recognized specialists specific to the topic and area of the submissions. All peer review process is conducted electronically and anonymously. The reviewers send the reports on manuscript tracking system. If one of the review report is positive and the other one is negative, the editor may appoint the third reviewer to evaluate the manuscript. Peer review helps editors make decisions in dialogue with authors.

Publication decisions: Upon the completion of the review process, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which of the manuscripts have the merit to be published. The Editor-in-Chief may get advice from other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Promptness: The reviewers who were invited by the Editor-in-Chief for review should immediately complete their review and they should inform the editor about their decisions as soon as possible. The reviewers have four weeks to complete their review process. The reviewer should report the manuscript as “accept, accept with minor revisions, major revision or decline”. Once the article is submitted to IOJES journal, it takes normally 3 months to finalize the publication process.

Standards of objectivity: Reviewers should follow an objective procedure in their review reports after accepting the reviewing responsibility.  If the reviewers have any conflict of interest with the manuscript (For Ex: If the reviewer knows the identity of the author), they should report this to the Editor-in-Chief and the Editor-in-Chief immediately appoints another reviewer.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest: In any way if a reviewer has conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies or institutions connected to the manuscript s/he notify the editors to declare their conflicts of interest and decline the invitation to review so that the editor could appoint another appropriate reviewer in time. Unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the authors. This applies also to invited reviewers who decline the review invitation.
